Donating to Friends

Last update: Oct. 4th, 2016

Friends of Kingstowne Library is a 501(c)3 organization. Donations to Friends are fully tax deductible.

What does Friends accept?
Friends welcomes donations of time, funding, and books. All donations are used in support of the Friends mission: supporting, improving and promoting the Kingstowne Library.

Friends will happily accept books, DVDs/Blu-rays, most magazines, and CDs. Donations of records must be examined and accepted by the book sale chair. Cook books are welcome, though it is preferred that they are no more than ten years old. Text books are also welcome, but must be no more than two years old.

What does Friends NOT accept?
While we are grateful to receive donations, we are unfortunately not able to accept:
* VHS tapes
* Audio cassettes
* Geographic magazines
* Cook books older than 10 years
* Textbooks older than two years.
* Extremely large donations (2 boxes max. please)

Items not specifically listed here may be reviewed by the book sale chair, and accepted on a case by case basis.

How can patrons make donations?
Book donations may be made in person during library hours. You may place your items to be donated directly into the donation bins near the returns counter. Donors may take a donation receipt from the table near the bins. Please note, neither Friends, nor the library staff will assign a value to donated items for tax purposes. Donors are responsible for assessing value of donations, and for any and all tax related matters.

Donations should be in reasonably good condition, and be of an appropriate nature to appear in a sale at a public library.
