About the Friends

The Friends of the Kingstowne Library formed in June 2000 to coincide with the grand opening of the Kingstowne Library. The group is small, but actively dedicated to maintaining an ongoing book sale and other funding pursuits and activities.

Mission Statement: The Friends of Kingstowne Library is an organization dedicated to supporting, improving and promoting the Kingstowne Library.

Accomplishments: The Friends have provided frequent children’s programming such as puppet shows, have purchased additional shelving and display furniture, have provided supplemental newspaper and periodical subscriptions, and have consistently supported the volunteer programs and Summer Reading Program. Recent programming of note includes “Mutts Gone Nuts”,

Membership: The Friends of Kingstowne Library welcomes all interested to become new members by completing a simple online form; or by sending an e-mail expressing your interest to friends@kingstownelibraryfriends.org

Members can include individuals, families, corporate sponsors, and community organizations.  Each class of membership is entitled to one vote.  Members can be as active or as inactive as they choose.  Some volunteers are responsible for sorting, pricing, shelving, and selling books at our book sales.  Others volunteer in other capacities directly for the Kingstowne Library.  Some simply join to be on the e-mail distribution list and know what is happening at the library.  We welcome all!
